Default Pye Ranger PTC800

Is there some one who has or had a Pye Ranger, (Yes it is going back a bit)
This on under restoration is A FM version in the 66/88mhz range,
I would Like to know the first oscillator (frequency) Set originally on 80mhz
it has no crystals, the first oscillator is the reference crystal for receive,
Transmitter is operating very well,
have to repair the oscillator, and just to verify, multiplier and whether +/-IF
Many thanks

Hi,
I presume your Ranger is a PTC FM8002.
Crystal formula for operation in the band 68-88MHz is:
fx=(fc+10.7)/3
i.e. oscillator injection is above signal frequency and the multiplier is 3.
2nd oscillator xtal frequency is usually 12.7 MHz.
I have a high band dash mount FM Ranger and the manual, so if you need any more info let me know.
cheers

Hi Peter,Thank you for coming back to me,and that information you have,
The 2nd oscillator frequency is indeed 12.7, I will give this a try later on when I get it back together, I would like a copy of your manual if this is possible, particularly alignment details,
the name is Jeff (G0PGY in my profile) The set is in good condition and is a boot mount I have built a control box for it,

Hi Peter, I should have added the only information I have is a PTC8007
This is a dash mount the boot mount is similar but varies a bit vibrator supply and the multi-way plug for the control box, the number on the set says cat. 6/8102n and is 6 volt, obtained from Thorpe camp Lincs when the radio shack was closed last spring, Have a number of Pye sets mostly operational
This one is the oldest. last date on the chassis April 1963.
