Default European Electronic Systems RC060A Radio Clock

Hi All,

I recently purchased this interesting looking box of eBay.

I’ve fitted an Aerial to the back but it doesn’t ever display the time, and the status lights never change.

Just wondering if anyone here has any data sheets or knowledge about this unit?

I’ve briefly googled the model number and it’s returns nothing.

Thanks

The EES passive aerial for these time clocks was a tubular housing containing a ferrite rod with a large winding, tuned to 60kHz MSF I believe, which in the day, came from Rugby, now Anthorn. They also made an active aerial, containing an amplifier housed in a rectangular grey plastic box. Interference from fluorescent light fittings caused reception difficulties. The fact that only one display digit is illuminated, rather than six (for hours minutes, seconds) indicates that the problem(s) within are not limited to the receiver section. The decoder section is TTL as far as I remember.

One question to ask is, does it use the fast code or the slow code? If it was designed for the fast code it will not decode anything as this was withdrawn in 1998.

Information on the current data format is on the NPL website.

Thanks everyone for your input and suggestions. 🙂

I’ll post about it once I find out more.

Cheers
