Ferguson 3V22 / Baird 8922 VCR repair wanted - UK Vintage Radio Repair and Restoration Discussion Forum

Hi all

I have one of the above VCRs (not sure which, it’s missing its badges) which I’ve wanted to get working for some time. I’ve replaced the belts which restored drive to play, ffw and rwd but I’ve been unsuccessful in getting a picture.

Hi 77,

I would be happy to look at this for you although I can't guarantee that it will be the fastest repair in the world!

I started my VHS repairing life with 3v22's while I was still at school and sold quite a few 'ex rental' machines to friends and family.

I have a soft spot for VHS and currently have a 3v16 which is similar to the 22 but with trick play functions.

I remember reading your thread and it looks like you have an electronic fault, which are always rather fun to diagnose!

I'm in Great Dunmow (well not at the moment, but I will be in a couple of weeks), so getting it to me shouldn't be too difficult - would you be able to bring it over? If not, I'm sure we can sort something out.

This should be right up your street then as I think it's ex-rental too! (well it is now if it wasn't before!) I've always liked the 3V16s too, but I tend to like the first of things!

iirc, it was mentioned to be an E-E fault, but I just don't have the skill or tools to really do this job unfortunately.

If I can't make it to Gt Dunmow, I'm fairly sure my mum travels to/through there quite a bit for work, so she may be able to take a bit of a detour on her travels.
