Default Reel to reel leader and splicing tape

Hello all

Not sure if this is one post or two - read on...

I have a few recently purchased reel to reel tapes which are minus leader tape.

I would like either some leader and splicing tape in order to do the job myself - I would pay whatever the costs but only want enough to do the job, or someone who would be willing to do it for me if I posted the tapes - again I'd pay the costs.

I do know how to make joints having spent many hours editing tapes at college. While I don't have a block I think I can do this simple task "freehand".

Martin

You can of course use the tape without leaders. The splicing tape adhesive deteriorates with age and the leaders just fall off.

Fair enough. I just wanted a neat job really as the tape looks ratty at the start and I worry there's a tendency to go further into the tape each time you re thread it on the machine.

I did pass by a nice splicing kit on the market a while back thinking there was no way I'd want to use one again...

Hello Martin.

I have a few reels of (I think) red, yellow and white. If that is any use, I can send you some.

PM me your address.

Daniel.

"I did pass by a nice splicing kit on the market a while back thinking there was no way I'd want to use one again." You missed out Martin, I sold a Bib kit for 38 the other day when I couldn't sell it for a fiver here a while back. As they've stopped making them and the resurgance of interest in all things Reel, the analogy of rocking horse droppings comes to mind.

I have some splicing tape but looks like Daniel's sorted you out.

Andy.

I did indeed miss out. For the six splices I want to do it would still have been amazing value!

Hi Martin. Have you seen the thread by Saxmaniac-Splicing Tape 28/4/18?

Thanks all for the feedback. I have some leader tape sorted and will look up the thread quoted above - I did try to find it at one point having read it in the past, but somehow couldn't locate it more recently.
