Default Ferguson 503AC tuning drive cable help

Hi All

I am a total novice in radio repair and have been trying to replace the tuning cable on my Ferguson 503AC.

I have removed the chassis and found that the tuning cable is definitely broken but can't get to the pulley mechanism and can't see an easy way to remove the tuning sub assembly from the chassis.

I looked at the service data area on the site and whilst there are a few 503 variants, there is not a 503AC, but I assume they similar. Do the service sheets show how to dismantle the set? What is the difference between the manufacturers and traders service data?

Has anyone any advise on how to get the sub assembly out? It looks like I'll have to remove all of the components to get to it, but I can't believe a set would be designed so that you have to dismantle it to change a consumable part (or am I being naive )

Tony
