Default Mystery Lissen Component

Any ideas what this would be used for?
It's made by Lissen I would think late 1920s into 1930. Probably an additional item for a kit possibly.
Cheers.

Looks like a coil support for one of those lovely basket wound jobs.

Wow they do look like a piece of art.
I'll have to see if I can find one to fit it. Making them seems to be quite a feat.
Thanks for that been stored for about a year.

Quite easy, cut some card for the former with an odd number of slots and wind away. Some used sticks (bits of dowel) again an odd number. Handy hint for winding pretty basket coils, "kill"* the wire first, i.e. give it a stretch to remove all the kinks first. A long garden or hijacking the street helps here!

*Done by the first linesmen laying the telegraph with iron wire, very boingy straight from the coil. A quick tug and it behaved itself.

Talking Re: Mystery Lissen Component

Cheers guys like say been sitting in a box for about a year then found it looking for something else. But never knew what it was for. Plus it all seems to be there.
That's another little project on list of things to do.
Bit doggy using street to stretch cable what if someone belts it down the road on a bike

OK as long as it's along the road rather than across it
