Re: Valuation
They do appear to be mostly 50s TV valves which won't be worth very much. The unboxed valves look like 'pulls' from scrap TVs. That said, valves vary a huge amount in value and there's no substitute for going through them all making a note of the code, manufacturer and condition.
If there's nothing very desirable hidden away in there, you may be lucky to get £10 for the lot. Sorry |

Re: Valuation
There's a 12AT7 in there a.k.a ECC81. If it's a re-badged Philips/Mullard one then the audio people might be interested.
But as other folks have said the search is for needles in haystacks, and if all we have are pictures of the haystack then it's hard to tell if there are any needles at all. Cheers, GJ

Re: Valuation
If you were to post some photos of the boxed ones, with the stamped type codes legible and the same way up, in good lighting, someone will be able to have a quick look to see if there are any particularly desirable ones in there.
Whatever you do, don't throw them away, please. Someone will want them, even if it doesn't make you rich. This is kind to the environment, will help someone to keep an ancient telly or radio going, and is surely better than letting your dad's "treasures" go to waste. Nick. |

Re: Valuation
Remember also that just because it's in a box doesn't mean it is a new valve: in times-past it was common for jobbing TV-repairmen when replacing a valve to put the dud one back into the box from which they just took the new one....

Re: Valuation
I used to put the duff valve back in the box but did put a cross on both ends.

Re: Valuation
Those are just pictures of brand names. We need the numbers on the ends of the boxes.

None of these numbers racks up the £ signs massively, though they are useful types. Photo 5 includes what looks like a Cossor 6V6GT which does not look as though it has had a hard life, as printing is not heat-discoloured, maybe £3? Last edited by kalee20; 3rd Mar 2020 at 1:37 pm. Re: Valuation
The 6X4, EL90 and 12AT7 in pic 4 may be worth a few pounds (they could be used in a simple 4-5W class A audio amplifier), the others in that pic are probably sub £1 job lot fodder.

Re: Valuation
I agree. Most of them are old TV valves, but still worth saving.
I always used to put the old duff valves back in the box, sometimes they weren't completely dud, but just a bit 'down', so got saved - not necessarily a good idea to do. The valve shown in the 'old' looking Mazda box could be of interest, as it could be an old radio valve. |

Re: Valuation
If you wish to sell them via the forum, you need to settle on a price and make a post in the parts offered section. You can always drop your asking price later, or accept an offer via PM, but offers aren't allowed in the open forum.

Re: Valuation
Cheers. As I’ve no idea if worth a fiver or £20...I’ve threw them onto eBay starting at 99p. I’ll not post a link incase goes against forum rules...but I’m sure easy enough to find. Can share link if suitable..
Thanks again for all advice etc. Greatly appreciated. |

Re: Valuation
That's probably your best course of action. Interested members will be aware of eBay listings.
