Jaycee Electronics - another radio shop gone now.
In case anyone was thinking of visiting the only remaining amateur radio/shortwave etc. shop left in Scotland, it has just closed.
Waters and Stanton have already taken all their new equipment back down South. I called in this morning to find Scott and a few helpers cleaning the shop out and putting stuff in black bags outside. It's rather sad. Looking forward, I don't think we're going to see any trader's stalls at Scottish radio rallies now unless they come all the way up from the midlands or further south. None of the agents of the big brands, other than Jaycee, have done that for many years. David

Re: Jaycee Electronics - another radio shop gone now.
Thanks for that sad news - I bought a few accessories and spares for my Yaesu FT-60 from Jaycee a couple of years ago by mail, specifically to give them a bit of business.
The 'Comet' dual band amateur mobile aerial I still use was bought over the counter from their shop in Glenrothes on a long day trip out to there from Tyneside in the mid-nineties. We (Tyneside) lost our own 'local' amateur radio shop quite some time ago. If I was looking to see / try / then buy amateur radio equipment now I'd probably have to wait for the Blackpool rally for the widest choice available within feasible driving distance. |

I think it is due first of all to retirement.
