Smile New book out about the history of Rugby radio station

Good morning,
I have just bought and received a copy of a new book which has just been published about the history of Rugby radio station.

Although for £5.99 it may seem a very small book it is in fact a very big book with plenty of pages and with many excellent pictures of the radio station, its transmitters and associated equipment through the years from the very beginning right up to the stations demise and the demolition of the masts. It includes the history of the Rugby time signal as well.It also has personal accounts of some of the staff who worked there.

All proceeds go to the air ambulance. A link to the book details page is below

Looks interesting. Rugby was the archetypal radio station that was talked of in my childhood - perhaps a hangover from its importance in WW2.

I've just ordered a copy of the book.

Sounds interesting, I've ordered a copy. If anyone is undecided, remember that the money is going to charity.

Just received my copy. Fascinating reading - very comprehensive with its 235 well-illustrated pages.

Not only full of technical detail, but also informative about staff, apprentice training etc. We learn what it was like to work there - through the eyes of one who was actually there.

Great value! Thanks for the recommendation Christopher.

Just ordered mine, I can't wait!!

As to the price, about the same as a 'quality' magazine from WH Smith and not thrown away.

My copy arrived today. A quick glance suggests that it is a real labour of love and contains much of both technical and human interest. I look forward to reading it thoroughly.

It is excellent value for money. I hope that it sells well and contributes significantly to the air ambulance funds.

My copy arrived yesterday too. Just the size, number of pages and printing quality is a bargain at £5.99, without even thinking about the content (which I haven't started reading yet).

Local news story about the book http://www.rugbyadvertiser.co.uk/new...ance-1-7964015

Apart from all the techy details, the info about the weights of masts, details of stays etc
is mind blowing......200 tons per mast !!

Currently popping (have popped) back to the kitchen for a beer and then returning to the garden in the sunshine to read some more. It is really a very good book, for both quality and contents, I would have gladly paid over a tenner for it.

Thanks for the heads up. We donate to the Air Ambulance already, so this book is a great idea. Ordered and looking forward to a good read.

I was brought up in the general area. I remember there was a book about the station in the house when I was a teenager which I found very interesting.

I bet it's still in Mum's house.
