The cynic and BS alarm sounded [even louder] when I read …. dilute them into a sonically optimized solution, then seal them into each record using proprietary Crynylseal technology

It begs the question how does a standard stereo 45/45 Degree format cartridge resolve that information
My question would be "Just what did they DO to the celeb/artist to get them crying?"

Crying all the way to the bank would only happen after the sale of the product, so there is a problem with causality.

Yes, the quantum fuses have featured before. I would hope that the purveyors of tiny gold commemorative 'coins' must be grateful that their own claims are thoroughly genuine by comparison. Overpriced maybe, but genuine. At least with a coin, when you 'blow' it, you get some money back.

What we have with these fuses is the financial opposite of the supermarket phenomenon of a 'loss leader'- an attention grabber that, if someone is daft enough to buy one, so much the better- but that's not the core intention. The core intention is to get people onto the website, who then browse through cheaper items. (We're actually helping them..!)

What's called "A halo product"

or "Trying it on", both at the same time.

They could be vapourware, secure in the knowledge that they'd never sell one at those prices, so development and testing cost come down to writing the advert - unless they send samples to reviewers?

I can't believe you're all considering old-fashioned fuses.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the future of audiophile electrical protection!

I once purchased a Nakamichi cassette deck where the live was soldered directly to the plug's live pin - no fuse.

Actually... maybe audiophools just need to rewire their systems with 15A BS546 plugs straight to an audiophile-grade MCB in their consumer unit.

I haz ideas...

Quantum fuses £8000.00 !!!! And its even directional! I'm amazed.

But that Swiss thingy is DIGITAL. Won't it make my music sound all quantised and crinkly?

Only in American voltages. Bet it doesn't have UL approval without its own input fuse in the mains input, and selling something without an approvals stamp in the most litigious nation on earth? What could possibly go wrong?

Directional fuses? But AC keeps reversing. Do I need a very fast fuse changer to rotate the thing 50 times per second? or can I jam two in parallel opposed into the tines in my mains plug?

There are fundamental questions left unanswered by these products. How about bi-wire fuses with one strand in each direction? The electricity will know which one to flow down, if you buy approved audiophile grade electricity.

Yikes...

And I thought the Fluke DMM fuses were a tad pricey.

There is a dialogue box with... Need help? I figure one would, paying that much for a fuse

Not necessary. Being a quantum device it can be in two places at the same time.

But for a fuse, isn't it important to be quite sure whether it's dead or alive? That would seem to rule out quantum devices?

I'm a quantum mechanic, I have a VERY small set of spanners. But I'm never sure where they all are at any one time.

Another QSA product well worth consideration:

https://www.futureshop.co.uk/quantum-science-audio-power-jitter-gold-uk-plug

Much more economic than the top of the range fuse.

Like Greg I struggle to understand a lot of this gibberish. For example:

"QSA's Musical Metal Molecule Alignment Technology (MMMAT) drastically increases the charge transfer efficiency between metal and molecules, resulting in an exponential improvement of micro dynamics. This, in turn, leads to a much more vibrant and lively music experience, almost creating a magical ambiance that will make you want to keep on listening."

Greg.
Propagation velocity is the speed at which a signal travels down a cable. The coax I worked with in the past was 2/3rds of the speed of light, so 5ns/metre. This stuff was significant in the days of analogue TV (especially colour) as it told you the delay between when a signal was sent and when it was received.

Knowing the "velocity constant" of a cable is useful when it comes to Time Domain Reflectometry, but that's a whole different kettle of bananas. Basically you fire an incredibly narrow pulse down an unterminated cable and see how long it takes to come back.

There's nothing to understand here. It's pure 'phoolery. But I'm guessing you know that!

I don't know why, John, after all quantum is Latin for "How much"?!
