Radiophile----still going or gone?
Radiophile site is 404, gone.
Only paid the subs in November, no magazine. Has Chas given up? |

Re: Radiophile----still going or gone?
Too slow for my connection, keeps timing out. Sorry if I have put the wind up anyone but it just won't connect for me.

Re: Radiophile----still going or gone?
It seems to be struggling a bit this morning, sometime very slow, sometimes fine.

Re: Radiophile----still going or gone?
Looking at your location information, are you currently in The Phillippines? If so, this maybe has some bearing on your problem.

DDOS attack. Resolved by hosting company, but did cause some issues for a while.
Next issue of the Radiophile is due late December / early January. |

Re: Radiophile----still going or gone?
I've just checked with the hosting company and the DDOS attacks are still occurring. They say access may well be intermittent until things are completely under control.
Unfortunately there is nothing I can do from here to mitigate the problem. |

Re: Radiophile----still going or gone?
I think it will be OK in the end. It's taken a long time for Chas the owner and founder to come on line but the Magazine seems to have gone from strength to strength since he's had great new support and organisation from Graham. Ironically, as Chas struggled on over the years with his "two person band" [ie with his wife] it almost became a part of the deal [readily accepted] that various setbacks and disasters would delay publication from time to time. It became a part of the experience in a way Worth it all for the magazine but I'm sure this is just an old style glitch

Re: Radiophile----still going or gone?
I did eventually get a reply, Graham put my mind at rest, thank you.
Being in the 'pines is not a problem, wifi everywhere and very fast. They have probably the best comms systems in the world, hundreds of call centers. They have to have the best, everyone has at least 3 smart 'phones! I regularly see Filipina (female Filipino) sending 2 text messages AT THE SAME TIME!!! And that's whilst walking down the street, its like dodgems. Sam. |

Re: Radiophile----still going or gone?
DDoS - Distributed Denial of Service.
Essentially it's normally done by hijacked computers making lots of requests to servers or other parts of network infrastructure causing it to be overloaded. |

Re: Radiophile----still going or gone?
Just received:
Due to the huge inbound DDOS against CLOUD07 which has been ongoing since Friday, we are this afternoon implementing an emergency firewall upgrade to aid with the mitigation. Please note that this will cause 1-5 minutes of scheduled downtime once the upgrade is started. Once the new firewall is online this should greatly assist in blocking the attack. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience - DDOS attacks are not something that any provider can prevent, only mitigate against. We will keep all customers updated at all times. |

Re: Radiophile----still going or gone?
Not loading for me at the moment.
If the DDoS attack has been happening since Friday and the hosting company are only now thinking about a firewall or whatever to mitigate it, then you need to find a better hosting company ASAP! A DDoS is normally targeting one specific website on the server, so the hosting company should have taken that one offline or moved it to a different server straight away. |
