Unlike his mine is unnickable, it's tied to the house. In the early days of 'car telephones' I adapted a proper bakelite 'phone for a bloke with an Alvis, it sat on the transmission hump. Both dial and ringer worked properly.

I love the way the cartoonist has drawn the pre-war GPO "pyramid" telephone so accurately!

Not a cartoon but I enjoyed this from Iain Pattinson's book "Lyttelton's Britain".

Ovine- pertaining to sheep.

Just picked up on the partial resemblance to 0-V-1 (no RF, detector, 1 audio stage).

Sorry Chris, I didn't express myself very well.

I did understand you, it was just too clever for me to compete.

But isn't it?

Just as in a Gallic old folks home, chacun à son goût - everybody's got the gout.

I'm indebted to Smithy, as in "In Your Workshop," for that bit of learning...

Here's a "Punch" cartoon from the early days of radio. I love the comtemporary loudspeakers and antennas!
