Default VHS Player. What does DTR mean?

I have a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro S-VHS recorder. The tracking can be either automatic or manual. There's a meter to show whether it's tracking correctly.

With automatic tracking selected, the display shows "DTR". This disappears when manual tracking is selected.

What does DTR mean in this context? It can't be Data Terminal Ready or anything "Digital".

I don't have a user manual to consult. The machine works perfectly.

In this context, I believe that DTR is an abbreviation of detection, tracking and recognition.

Apparently it is "digital tracking", though I'm not sure exactly what that is supposed to mean.

Thanks Tom.

That exactly describes what I see. What's the document you've posted an extract from?

It's the user manual for the Mitsubishi HS U110 VHS recorder. I just thought that they would probably use the same terminology for different machines.

Thanks, Graham, for the original question, and thanks, Tom, for the definitive answer.
