Default Unusual Russian(?) telephone.

Hi everyone I've just picked up this very unusual telephone which is Russian I think. Can anyone identify it?

Thanks in advance.

There was one of these on ebay a few months ago and it intrigued me then. I think ППУ (PPU in Cyrillic) was the abbreviation for Приемо-передающие устройства = two way telecommunication device (or similar). Not as pretty as Russell's ТАИ-43 though! Can you see the model number? It should be in uppercase at the top of the circuit diagram, if there is one.

It might be the metal-cased version of one of the late 1950s / early 1960s transistorised model TA-57. The handset looks similar.
