I don't have specific information to hand, but gram units were routinely checked with the FOM 2 test record for frequency response and anything out of tolerance would have been corrrected. Local radio, certainly in its initial stages, was something of a bargain-basement operation, hence the use of Derams, which could at least give a reasonable performance when suitably loaded. Networks used the SC35, selected largely for its robustness, and this generally sounded a tad brighter than the 75 series, perhaps because of higher tip mass.

B&W briefly offered a plug-in equaliser for the SME arm to flatten the response of the V15/2. The /2 improved had a response which was a good deal flatter, making the equaliser redundant.
