Goblin Teasmade model 855.
This used to belong to my wife's grandmother and has stood unused for the 30+years I have known my wife. I just couldn't part with it over the years (you all know the feeling).
I think I'd like to give it a go. It seems complete and intact and has been in the garage for most of those years. Being electrically minded I am wary of simply plugging it in and giving it a whirl. Is there anything I should look out for inside before applying power? I'm thinking of safety first here. Thank you. |

Re: Goblin teas made model 855.
Keep it in a warm room for a few days as if it's been in a cold garage the stator winding in the motor might have succumbed to corrosion. Same applies to the alarm buzzer.
The Teasmade 855 has a plastic mains and kettle lead so no problems there. Give it a try to see if the clock runs; if not then either the winding is kaput or lack of lubrication has seized the motor; if so you should be able to hear a faint buzz. Kettle elements rarely fail. Though this applies mainly to the earlier D25, you might find it useful.
