Default Slider controls for Thorn 1500

Hi,
I need two 470K slider pots as fitted to some TV's using the Thorn 1500 chassis. In this case it's an Ultra 6823.
They are made by Egen and are 60mm long by 13mm wide. They have little plastic mounting clips in each corner to enable them to be fitted into a plastic frame.
They are the volume & brightness controls and need to be the exact type or they won't fit into the housing.
Does anyone have anything suitable?

Many thanks
Nick

Just shamelessly bumping this to the top again! Unfortunately, I can't put the thing together without the correct controls!

Many thanks for looking.
All the best
Nick

Are they Log or Lin tracks (or one of each)? The volume control will surely be a Log type?

Hi Nick, have you tried googling?

e.g. egen slide controls
into Google Images finds quite a number of hits.
clicking, then visiting one results in:

https://www.ebay.es/itm/Mixer-Slider...-/361956553179

Seems the part number is on the side.
Maybe those you require can be found.

Good Luck - Mike

Hi DV,
The original pots are no longer there so I don't know what they were. As you say, the volume was probably log. I can't believe they would have fitted one log and one lin though so maybe the brightness was also a log?

Mike,
Thanks for the suggestion, but I've just spent 20 mins searching the internet and Ebay to no avail!
The nearest I found was a type 00025 but only in 22K. There seems to be a large number of different styles available. The sliders I need are designed to clip into a plastic housing so need to be the correct type. Modifications will be a pain

Many thanks
Nick

Would either of these two assemblies be what you are after? The slider tracks measure around 400 to 500kOhm and it looks very Thorn-ish to me. One of the housings has the "Thorn" logo on it.

The assembly in the first and second pictures was definitely fitted to Thorn 1500s. It is identical to that fitted in an HMV 2815 24" model that I moved on recently - Brightness and Volume. The customer controls can be unplugged from a trailing socket under the chassis on these later version sets (1525), which can be a help!

The assembly in the third and fourth pictures would appear to be for a 1500 series set too, just a different badge engineered presentation!

Hi DV & VF,
The item in pictures 3&4 looks to be the very thing! The sliders are slightly different, but the overall assembly looks identical to the one in my set. The chassis in my set is listed as a 1525 so the information from VF looks spot on!
Just to be sure, the overall length of my plastic assembly is 132mm and the pots should be 470K.

DV, I'll send you a PM.

Gaz,
Many thanks for looking but 4k7 is a factor of 100 too small so i'll pass on that!

Many thanks everyone,
All the best
Nick

As I mentioned in post #7, the slider tracks each measure around 400 to 500kOhms. I think they'll need a modest squirt of a suitable contact cleaner and lubricant, in order to get smooth electrical operation of the wiper along the carbon track.

The overall length of my plastic moulding is 126mm, not 132mm.

I am reluctant to attempt removal of the slider pots from the black plastic housing, as there is risk of breaking off the four small "barbs" that retain each pot in the housing. The plastic may have become brittle with the passage of time.

Hi Dazzlevision,
Thanks for checking. There would seem to be subtle differences between yours and the one fitted to my set. However, I think it's close enough to be made to work! Even the plug is the same. I would like to give it a go anyway so if you can let me know how much you would like including postage, that would be great!
Many thanks
Nick
