Default RetrotechUK / NVCF event date is moved to 25 October 2020

RetrotechUK / NVCF event date is 25th October 2020

The BVWS committee have confirmed the new date for the above event is 25th October 2020.

This is due to the current coronavirus pandemic.

It is likely the government will bring in more interventions including a ban on large groups at events such as ours for the next few months.

Also, the BVWS have a duty of care to all our members to consider their wellbeing.

The spring bulletin can now be sent out at the end of this week with the new membership cards. Further details regarding the event date move will be inside.

Stallholders who have sent in orders will be given the option of stalls at the rescheduled event or a refund if that doesn’t suit you, I’ll be in touch over the next few days.

I rather think this autumn is going to be a busy time.

Alas the 25 October clashes with the BATC convention. Whilst it is much smaller than the Retrotech it does mean I will not be able to attend.

There were only a few possible dates available at the WEC later in the year, and most of them clashed with other BVWS events. Under the circumstances 25th October was the best option for us.

Currently all other scheduled BVWS events are still going ahead as planned, but obviously the organisers and BVWS are monitoring the situation. These are smaller events than Retrotech in terms of visitor and stallholder numbers, venue size and organising logistics - as well as cost.

That’s a shame, but on the bright side, it’s not cancelled completely! And it gives me a bit more time to decide what junk to pass on via the forum for collection at the NVCF might also get enough of a pile together to make it worthwhile having a stall

Keep safe and healthy everyone,

Regards

I must admit that I was expecting something along these lines, and (although postponement is disappointing) rescheduling for the autumn is excellent news.

Like livewireless123, I too have been wondering about Golborne. The THG event with which it clashed has already been cancelled/postponed.

In the current climate it seemed inevitable but great to know it has only been postponed. It has reminded me to get my booking for a stall in! I am also looking forward to attending Golborne if it takes place in April.

The stall booking form on the website will be updated with the new date once I receive an updated copy from Alex. However you can still use the current one, just amend the date yourself so Greg knows you are aware of the change when he receives it.

A "no brainer" really for those who put in all the hard work organising this event for our community-especially on the personal health front. We don't know what is going to happen but that's the same in war-time. I'd pencilled in Retro Tech to combine it with a visit to my mother in law in Bicester at the beginning of May but moving it back was really the only decision the management could make You do what you have to do!

I've amended my post as the Brexit warning has now been extended to Coronavirus but I hope that any members who become ill will be allowed support [as with other conditions] especially in view of the age profile of the Forum!

That would be member news, which would be allowed in the same way as any other member health matters they wish to share.

Note added to the other thread to this effect.

Myself and John were expecting this, disappointed as we are it's completely understandable and unavoidable. We may be able to rearrange ferry/ hotel and if I get time off in October, I hope to go then. Best wishes to all involved, it's no small undertaking.

It is disappointing, I was looking forward to it, but I fully understand and support the committee in their decision.

A very good and timely decision. Going ahead would probably have meant low attendance and high risk and now with the PM's advice it would be forced upon us. I enjoy all these events, but we have to go with the flow, and it's a chance to catch up with projects. Wishing all members good health in the next few months.
