HMV 1124 Alignment
Hi,
I'm probably missing something obvious here but can any one tell me what 'Rock Gang' means? On the alignment notes the service manual describes using the calibration scale on the back of the gang capacitor drum which is calibrated in inches and 16ths of an inch. The table shows which Calibration Scale Setting to use i.e 8 7/16s but also has the setting Rock Gang, is this max or min or something else? Not sure if that makes sense so I've attached an extract from the manual. Thanks |

Re: HMV 1124 Alignment
Rock Gang: A group of convicts on rock breaking duties , or perhaps.......
Rock the tuning capacitor (the gang(ed capacitors)) slightly either side of nominal. Done to confirm that a setting is peaked at the point in question, when output will fall either side of nominal. It's a term in radio use a bit akin to "hit any key when ready"..... "Any key? Where's the ANY key?"
