Default 12y4g

Is it correct that the 12Y4 would be the same valve as the 12Y4G ?

If they follow the usual meanings for no suffix and -G suffix, yes.... but the no suffix will be a metal can and the -G suffix a shouldered glass bottle, so there might be problems fitting a -G physically into a no suffix space.

Edit- actually it seems that a 12Y4 is a M-O double diode in a shouldered glass bottle, not an American metal cased type. I can't find any reference to a 12Y4G. Maybe someone jumped to the same conclusion as myself and just added a -G suffix?

Thanks for the info Chris; looks like I won't have a problem then, as the original is a 12Y4G and I am looking for a replacement............... can't find a -G but may be able to get hold of a 12Y4

Thanks, Kelvin

This would be in your 52 set, presumably? Possibly the only common application for the type......

It certainly is

Fixed the PSU and the 52 is now up and running.

Previous owner has replaced a dud 12Y4G with a couple of diodes and I thought I'd reverse the modification.

Plus the xtal calibrator doesn't seem to function at all.

I got hold of the R.E.M.E service manual so I can go through the set and check everything is A1.

CV(0)523 seems to be the forces equivalent for 12Y4.

If you want lots:

Or Billington looks like a better bet

Thanks for the links............... I don't know what I'd do with 10-off.

Price at Billington is OK but with a minimum order of £50; I'll wait untill I need a few more
