Nipped into the Bath Lidl just now on the way to mum's care home and grabbed a box. I noticed they had soldering iron kits for £7.99, but I normally buy irons at the car boots.

My personal shopper also came up blank, so I'll just have to resume searching the garage.

Unfortunately, my local (Cockermouth) Lidl is still a building site (due to open later this year), but I'll try to get through to Workington some time during the week and see whether they have any.

Also, by a freak of bad timing I had ordered a pack of five croc clips with screws at more than the cost of the eighty at Lidl prior to hearing about these.

Bear in mind that if you make a special journey to Lidl to buy them, you are doing,
say two miles there and back, stop starting, with cold engine etc
Add that fuel to the cost.

I won't just be visiting Lidl (rather more than two miles away), as I've no guarantee that they'll have them in stock, but adding it to my occasional trips into Workington to visit other shops not represented in Cockermouth - and I won't be footing the cost of the bus journey, being an OAP.

I went to Lidl at Ripley this morning. They did not have any croc clips but had many boxes of alligator clips.

The nearest Lidl to me is in Witney, about 14 miles away. Like Dave Moll, I can travel free on the buses, so may go and see if they have any crocodile(Alligator) clips in stock.

I was in Lidl yesterday, I didn't notice any clips but I only popped in to buy some diced beef to make casserole.

True, usradcoll1, but, at least in the U.K. those of us who are over 65 can, as Dave Moll noted in post #27, travel on Buses at no cost, which I, as a fellow O.A.P., often do.

Although doesn't a bus journey make a 20 min drive a 2 hour trip?

I popped into Letchworth Lidl today, there are plenty in stock.

However, I walked away empty handed. I just felt the lack of insulation on the jaws could get me into trouble, careful placement is needed to avoid accidental shorts.

I'm sticking with the multicoloured sets that I've sourced from CPC, but they're not without fault. The crimped cable joints fail and the boots are so tight, the jaws don't open easily.

You're right about Bus Journey times, Sinewave, but I don't drive anyway, so accept the fact that I have to travel at the times and via the routes specified by the bus companies. A second thought occurs, one with which vehicle owners will be all too familiar-the time often taken to find a parking space!!
