Default Tektronix 2235 - What have I done wrong ?

Hi All

My eagerly awaited Tek 2235 arrived today.

On power up everything looked fine with 2 sharp horizontal traces, exactly as it should be.

After a couple of minutes of knob twiddling to familiarise myself with the controls the screen went blank.

After lots more twiddling I managed to get back 2 dots doing a very slow horizontal sweep across the screen.

No matter what I do I cannot get the 2 traces back, can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong ?

Alan

Sounds like you moved the timebase speed to a very slow sweep time.

And possibly turned off automatic triggering.

Hi Alan, here is a link to the manual for this scope. Page 29 shows the settings required to give a base line trace. The most common trap for the uninitiated is the trigger controls. When in doubt make sure that it is in the 'Auto' position, this should make sure that something is displayed.

Vic

p.s. Richard beat me to it!

Alan,

Have a look at some of the videos made by Alan Wolke on Youtube. In particular, his scope basics videos are ideal if you're wanting to learn which switch does what on your new scope.
