Radio Communications in WW2 Destroyer
I am doing some research on the ship my late dad served on during WW11, it was a Hunt Class Destroyer would any one know what the Communications set up would have been on these particular ships.
Thanks. |

Re: Radio Communications in WW2 Destroyer
A good starting point for information may be the Royal Navy's Museum of Communications.
Their website is - http://www.rnmuseumradarandcommunications2006.org.uk/ Andy |

And IMHO it must be one of the most difficult websites to navigate through!
But persevere and there is a wealth of information there. Andy |

Yes, I agree, on both of your points.
I used to live next door to a retired RN Lt. Cdr., and he was an extremely interesting chap to talk to. |

Re: Radio Communications in WW2 Destroyer
Thank you very much for all your replies so far, I have paid brief visit to the weblink......I will need a couple of hours one night to trawl through it.
The navy destroyer concerned was HMS Tanatside and some where at home I do have some evidence that during a refit some kind of radar equipment was fitted before the conclusion of the war. |

Try this link PWDRIVE,
http://www.battleships-cruisers.co.uk/type_iii.htm The site is dedicated to ships including your father's. You should be able to get some contact with old crew if you are lucky. Mike Last edited by MichaelR; 10th Jun 2011 at 6:16 pm. Reason: spelling |
