Fit stylus to Sonotone 8T4A
Hello
Please could I have some instructions (preferably a video) on how to fit a new stylus for my Bush SRP-31D? It has the original cartridge, Sonotone 8T4A. I am familiar with the Audio Technica AT95E and other modern cartridges, but I am a bit puzzled how to get this one out (and I don't want to break it). Thank you very much. Richard |

Re: Fit stylus to Sonotone 8T4A
The stylus is held in the cartridge by a black "U" shaped spring. Very gently open the open end of the spring with a fingernail, just enough to be able to slide the stylus out with the other hand. The new stylus can be held against the open end of the spring and gently pushed in until it clicks into place.

Thank you for your reply - I'll give it a go, it's somewhat fiddly.

I posted a diagram on this fairly recently, search the forum and see if it's there.

I thought it might be of interest to see the inside of a Sonotone 8T cartridge.
I have inserted some pictures. I should say the Cartridge was faulty, see how badly the pins are corroded. |

I should have added the picture of the corroded pins.

I’ve got one of those that had been snapped in half! I managed to rebuild it carefully and it actually sounds really good! It’s fitted to a Bush SRP31D.

Looks like you have a similar TV to me Lloyd 1985. Actually, the Mitsubishi TV is how I came upon this forum (this thread):
https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...ad.php?t=60791 And the immortal quote on that thread: 'Cracking sets, they just don't go wrong!' It still works 100%, I have my Freeview box connected via a VCR. My pleasure is not shared by other family members. Thank you for the help with the stylus and I've ordered a new one from Musonic (now I can remove the old one). |

Fitted it using your instructions, sounds great.
Not so fiddly once you've done it once. Thank you for your help. |
