Goodies in a shop window...
I was out for my morning walk one day last week and spotted these in the window of a vinyl record emporium here in Sheffield (I have no connection with said emporium). I'm no expert in record players and radiograms, though I have worked on the odd one over the years. But thought they might be of interest to this forum.
There's an Ecko record player, a Tellux brand one (never heard of it before) which is intriguing because it also says on the badge 'solid state'. The big radiogram no idea - except it looks 70's Thorn-ish to me... The tape recorder again no idea - looks kind of Philips? - the head cover's missing and that would probably have the brand name on it. The Bush radiogram looks like it uses a similar chassis to the VHF61/62 etc radios, but with the on-off switch moved to the volume control instead of the piano keys. I'm sure you guys will know! The tape recorder looks similar to the Telefunken Magnetophon 105:

Re: Goodies in a shop window...
I wonder if they are for sale, or just a window display, not that I'm interested in buying them.

There's a horrible old Rod Stewart LP as well, best chucked away and replaced with something else for improved sound

Re: Goodies in a shop window...
There's no indication that they are for sale, I think it's just a window display. They may even be borrowed from someone's collection, as all are in good condition. It occurred to me to go in during opening hours and enquire about them. But I'm not interested in buying anything either, in fact I have enough on with my collection of radios which has already outgrown the available space!

Re: Goodies in a shop window...
I'd be surprised if these were for sale. I think they would require to be PAT tested in this country, which due to their age might be impossible.
It's different in the States, I often envious of vintage gear like Magnavox Astro-sonics, being picked up for very little money at "thrift shops." I've since sussed out their website. They just sell records. https://spinningdiscssheffield.co.uk/ |
