Fluke TL175 test leads
Hi all
Has anyone ever attempted to repair any Fluke TL175 leads, I have somehow broken off the entire test prod where the prod comes out of the body of the test lead and there is about 2mm of thread showing, have had a little go at seeing if I could undo the thread but could not move it I must say that I have bought a new set of leads, but did not want to throw them away without trying a repair. Re: Fluke TL175 test leads
I've never tried to dismantle TL175s but experience with other similar leads would suggest that some parts are usually heat moulded into position and any attempt at repair tends to result in what can only be described as an unsatisfactory bodge. I imagine that the twist guard will make repair even more of challenge.
I don't like throwing things away either so I'd suggest discarding the probe itself and keeping the lead/plug for making some other type of useful probe/connector - nice insulated croc clip for example. You can never have too many test leads with a variety of terminations in my view. Alan |

Re: Fluke TL175 test leads
I have same probes.
The thread you see is not for installing or removing the tips. It is for screwing on a 4mm adapter over the probe itself. https://www.tester.co.uk/fluke-tl175...ntern-tips-4mm The probes will themselfs be "insert" moulded, meaning the handle is injection moulded over the metal probe its self, so, as already said, can not be dismantled.

Re: Fluke TL175 test leads
Hi!
My employer supplies TL175 leads for our official testmeters, but they have a habit of going high–resistance or intermittent after only a few months use in some cases! A simple suggested repair is to screw a 4mm female–female threaded spacer over the broken prod–end, then you can screw a suitable machine screw in the free end of the spacer which can be cut to the desired length and filed to a probe point, with sleeving or heatshrink added for insulation if desired!
