Default Sky Casket speaker removal

I would like to remove the loudspeaker from my Ever Ready Sky Casket, to try to clean the grill cloth. Could anyone please tell me if there is a trick to this, or is it just a matter of using a suitable tool to pry the baffle board free from the lid? I don't want to break anything.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Its a long time ago! ( I bet at least 30 years)

ISTR you have to remove the covers from the ends of the handle I think they just clip on.

The exposes the screws that hold it all together.

Could be wrong lot of dead brain cells since I had too do one of these!

Cheers

Mike,

I found that the removal process is different to what you described. One of the screws on each hinge is longer than the other, and they screw into captive devices whose name I can never remember. The other side of the baffle board has two large washers that fit into slots in the lid. I have attached two photos that I hope will clarify it for anyone who finds this thread in the future.

Colin
They're variously called 'spire clip nuts', 'U' nuts, 'speed nuts', or any combination of all three!

Hi Colin

OH Dear

Yes as soon as I read you mentioned hinges it came seeping (as opposed to flooding ) back.

It's got one of those horrible inverted magnet speakers.

I have another Sky Casket in my rountuit pile so I will remember I hope how to remove the speaker now

Cheers]
