Default Brilliant radio station! On-line.........

Hi all,

Listen to this!! Its called "U.K LIGHT PROGRAMME"--and it is JUST like the BBC light programme--but 24 hours a day, all light classical , pop,and orchestra music, and has Paul Hollingdale, Brian Kay,Bob Holness, Brian Reynolds, Music while you work, Superstar Serenade, all NEW! Pete Murray and Jimmy Young are coming to the station in Feb!!The theme ident is great, too! The feed is nice clear quality, and you can choose which suits your computer. Ive just been listening to "Music while you work". Testing transmissions for the start proper. I hope they can secure a DAB channel.........

Just tuned (if thats the right word) in. It does sound good with good audio quality through my PC speakers. One for my favorites list especially with the promised line up of presenters.

It's been suggested that UK Light Radio is "just like" the old BBC Light Programme.

Remember that the output of the BBC Light Programme included live concerts, live studio orchestras, sparkling comedy shows, regular news/weather bulletins, quizzes, some drama output and even children's programmes - i.e. a well-rounded 'light' radio station. The playing of recorded music was considered to be the least edifying aspect of its output. Naturally, it would be completely unrealistic to expect UK Light Radio to revive all of this, but it's important to make the distinction.

Cheers,
Martin

For some reason, their website is unavailable tonight... pity. This sounds like a good source of nostalgic broadcast material to feed into my AM modulator and listen to on a vintage valve wireless.

As Martin said, not all the same content, just music focussed-eg no Journey Into Space [now R7] but very similar style! Quite retro these days. Good to listen to when in the right mood but also a reminder of some of the more er, unadventurous aspects of a "light" output perhaps. Should do well as there will be a vast army of potential listeners, not necessarily just older folks eitherDave W

I have bookmarked the link to UK Light radio. Thanks.
Whilst on interesting radio links topic. Angel radio, is another station that has "nostalgia" music, and some programmes. Aimed at an elderly audience. They are on 101.1 Mcs FM in the Havant area. Or can be heard on line at:

Good to see UK Light Radio has returned. It's like having Radio 390 back, always my preferred '60s pirate even as a teenager.
