Default Rewind Required: Volksempfganger VE301 DYN Mains Transformer

Hi folks,

Looking to get one of the above rewound as it's tried to start it's own lightshow, even at 100v on the variac/dim bulb...I'm assuming the HT winding is the outermost as the other heater winding is fine, and mains current draw (i.e. primary) is steady.

It's for a paying customer who is happy to pay the going rate!

Not sure if Ed or Mike are still active in tis regard, and don't want to disturb them if not, so posting here in a more general sense.

Thanks in advance!

I've restored two of these sets.

Are you sure that there's no load on the HT winding, does it still overheat with the valves removed? The smoothing capacitor "block" in these radios can go short- circuit. The transformer is well constructed.

The rectifier valve can go short-circuit too.

Hi Graham-thank you as ever.

I fear not. All three smoothers replaced/restuffed, and the rectifier was out.

I have healthy heater voltage on the other winding.

There is significant evidence of previous exposure to moisture on the chassis. A lot of rust.

Having googled I see little talk of trafo failure which your experience supports.

Please see video:here.

Just a quick bump on this-I have three audio output transformers from the spares pile to be done as well-so four jobs in total if anyone is willing.
