I did it in a bit of a hurry this morning. I'll do the rest a bit later when I get home from work.

Nick. PS I'd be happy to scan and post more of the same, if people are interested, but it won't be immediate as my 70s magazines are in Guildford at the moment. |

I'd love to see more, and I would gladly host them at www.vintage-radio.info (unless/until a copyright owner told me to remove them).

Re: Whats your favourite LES L JOHNS story
I have copies of Television going back to 1969 and could scan some of the articles and post them if people are interested.
I always used to enjoy his articles, both the servicing and the later stories re-reading them over and over again. Of all the magazines I used to get every month I always used to look forward to getting Television learning most of what I know about TV from the magazine, some of whose contributors are also members of this forum. If they are too big to post here, PM me for my email address so you can send them to me and I can put them on www.vintage-radio.info. I'd like to set up a LLJ section there, if there are enough articles to justify it. |

That would be fantastic! Here's The Return of Beardy and Non Beardy. "A Visit To Mr Nasty" was in the same issue! Cheers, Brian |

Re: Whats your favourite LES L JOHNS story
I've been looking through my old magazines and I think these are the first of the story type of articles dating from September 1977 and the last dating from October 1990.
In October 1977 the series "TV servicing: Beginners Start Here" began written by S.Simon S LLJ was kept busy. Enjoy Paul I'll PM you and send more articles as and when I can find the time to scan them as there are over 150 by my reckoning. Keith |

So, he did have a daughter after all. A Google search provided one result for someone of the same name, in the guestbook of some strange "spiritual" site I wonder who excatly SK Lakha was. Did he take over the shop? N. |

Re: Whats your favourite LES L JOHNS story
On 23rd, I will hopefully be at Shifnal.
Chas E. Miller also wrote for Television Magazine, and some of his articles are pretty good too. He will I hope be able to tell us about Copyright, as well as things like whether HB is still living. (Are you going by the way?) In the meantime, don't put too many articles here because IF this idea of a book of his stories comes to be a possibility, then it might dilute sales!! Cheers, Steve P

I remember reading Les was asked to put his work into a book, titled "Service With A Smile" (or something like that), featuring his best articles. Sadly it never materialised. With "Television" changing hands so often (George Newness, IPC, Reed Business etc), one wonders who actually owns the copyright nowadays? Brian |

Re: Whats your favourite LES L JOHNS story
When writing for a magazine the author normally retains copyright in the article and grants the magazine the rights to publish it in that issue.
