Re: A new lease of life for a KB FB10 'Toaster'.
Thanks David - I knew that you'd probably 'invented' a solution! (I've always got away with it in the TR82's etc. ..... but the lugs therein seem to be rather more substantial and forgiving .....).

That wouldn't be a problem for me; I can't stand the taste of electric toast, so all my toast is made under the grill.

Re: A new lease of life for a KB FB10 'Toaster'.
This thread inspired me to get one, it's on it's way from a forum member. It will go well on my A22 stand in the middle (shelves are there now) with my DAC90A on the bottom. Probably the three most iconic post war sets ever.

Nice! A cracking repair David and a great write-up, as always. My own FB10’s chassis led me a merry dance, but the cabinet was a doddle compared to yours. Well done!
Phil

Thanks for reading the thread Phil and for your kind comments.
Your cabinet looks splendid, and the grille fabric looks very much in keeping. Cheerful little radios in kitchen setting!

Re: A new lease of life for a KB FB10 'Toaster'.
Whilst I like to stick with tradition and keep original colours (my own FB10 is the standard cream), these sets seem to lend themselves to being sprayed almost any colour and not looking 'wrong'. Even David's pink one looks good! The same can't be said of Ekco 'roundies' or DAC90's. It must be something to do with the shape of the cabinet.

Re: A new lease of life for a KB FB10 'Toaster'.
I agree with that, SB, and it’s nice to see the colour schemes chosen by various restorers. However in David’s and my FB10s the cabinets had been repaired and needed respraying to hide the repair. I could have chosen cream, which I guess would have been more authentic (I once resprayed a very tatty Marconi midget in its original cream colour, although that was brown Bakelite underneath) but ‘going green’ guaranteed acceptability to SWMBO and ensured the FB10 would meet with her approval as the kitchen set...
