Default Ekco A22 production

Does anyone know the production span for the A22? 1946 to ? I have one with a speaker marked 17 Jul 194? . I think it's a 6 but could be a 9 not sure. The serial number is 017772 which I guess might be quite late.

Thanks.

Default Re: Ekco A22 production

I believe that the production started in 1945 as some of the early ones still had the pre war BBC stations marked on the tuning dial. i.e. "National" on 261 Metres & the "regional" network, & "Droitwich" on 1500 Metres. But most had the later dial with "BBC Light" on 261 Metres & 1500 Metres & the regional "Home Service", and "BBC Third Prog.". At a guess I would think 1947 would probably have been the last year of manufacture, as this classic design would have been classed (at that time) as 'old fashioned' in the new post war era of optimism, as the 'Round Radio' design had been around in various forms and models since 1934.
