Default Availability of 1155's

Hi all,

My dad used to repair and service 1155's in the RAF.
Anyone got any ideas of availability of these set's these days ?
I'd love to get one for my collection in honor of my old man.
He later went onto Radar, but there's no way I'd get one of those in the house

Kind Regards

Dr. Dave

Hi Dave,

I managed to catch some of your radio show, you've a great show there
As far as 1155's go, i don't think you should have much trouble in getting hold of one. They are on ebay regularly, but www.spitfirespares.com usually has a couple up for sale.(£150 -£300 ish) The 1154 is however a whole different game, very hard to find and thus going for very strong money on the odd occaision that one does crop up. I have an 1155, and one day would love an 1154 too as my Grandfather was RAF, and i think a Lanc mock up display really would be something......just waiting for those numbers to come up!
The Gee radar units look nice too, but again good ones are not cheap.
Good luck in your search. WW2 collectables are another love of mine, it is just unreal what is still available from Master compass sets to Radars.
I also note that Haynes are making two manuals "The Spitfire" and "The Lancaster" both these look like they will be well worth a dig through, as most of us guy's have been brought up the "Haynes way" with our car manuals, I was drip fed from about the age of five with spanner ratings and other such "Haynesisms"

btw had better mention that i have no connection at all with spitfirespares or haynes other than as a customer.

All the best,

Chris.

Might be worth trying to get hold of Len Thompson of Military and Domestic Radios - he normally has some floating around.

Cheers
Sean

OK, Thanks chaps.
Not in a major hurry, something for the near future I think.

Several on ebay this week and don't appear to be collecting that many bids.
None in completed listings so no idea what the finishing prices will be.
But may be a good week to put in a bid as there are several for sale.
However if you want a T1154 there are none for sale at the moment; last working one went for £461.00
Mike.
