Default Sony HMK 20

Hello. Just purchased a Sony HMK 20 & the turntable makes a terrible noise when a speed is engaged. I need to investigate but can't see how the turntable platter removes. Can anyone advise?

Scratch that, it was just gummed up with crud so I've been able to remove it. The motor is quiet, but when a speed is engaged & the spinning wheel meets the post (sorry for lack of technical terminology) there's a noise which in turn, travels up to the stylus & speakers. Any advice in a repair?

What you are calling a "Post" is the Spindle coming up from the motor. Clean that and the edge pf the Idler Wheel ("Spinning Wheel") wiih IPA. Also check the motor mounts as the suspension may have degraded/weakend over time.

Lightly oil the shaft of the idler wheel and platter. Be careful not to get opil on the platter or idler itself
