Hi I have a record player , it is philips 22GC036/72 type and perhaps I have a problem ?
İt is works fine with long spindle to automatic mode 33and 45 records but
1- When I want to listen to a single record with short spindle, it is starting automatically, working and to finally the tonearm is coming back but it is not stopping and again go to record.
2-on the 33 record (with short spindle) the tonearm is starting in the middle of the record.

The record balance arm which holds a stack of records level when using the long spindle needs to be over the record even when you play a single record with the short spindle otherwise the deck thinks there is another record to play when it finishes the single record. All auto changers behave like this.

With regard to your second point about the pick-up arm automatically lowering part-way into a 33 record, this is because the automatic mechanism thinks it is going to play a 7" record. When the long centre spindle is used and the record is placed onto the upper part of the spindle, when the 33 record drops it will hit the size selector bar, thus telling the mechanism that it needs to lower the arm for a 12" (or 10") record.
Normally, when using the short centre spindle the pick-up arm would normally be placed manually onto the record. There are ways around this by pushing the size selector bar yourself at the point where the automatic mechanism would be expecting the record to drop onto the turntable.
(The size selector bar is located towards the back, right hand side of the turntable.)
I hope this makes some sense as it's difficult to explain what I mean without actually being able to show you.
