Why is the report post triangle symbol only visible after you log in ? If it was
always displayed it might indicate whether the OP is worthy of a reply or contributing to the post. |

Are you suggesting you should be able to report a post without being logged in?
That could result in non members maliciously reporting posts creating work for the mods. As you can only post when logged in I don't see how the triangle would help to determine if a post is worthy of a reply? Cheers Mike T

The only way to determine whether a post should be reported is by reading it.
The red triangle is there so that members can report posts. It doesn't indicate that a post has already been reported.

The presence of the 'report post' button carries no information about the value of the post, and it isn't shown to forum guests because we don't want anonymous idiots reporting posts hundreds of times as some sort of joke.

Thanks Paul for answering my concern. I was not suggesting non members could post
anything. I only wondered as the triangle is normally a warning symbol. I have never reported a post myself, no need as the moderators maintain an excellent watch. No complaints from me ! |

Every single post in the forums is accompanied by the red triangle! If it were a warning you'd read no posts at all!

The warning triangle button is also there on all the moderator's discussion posts in the staff section... (Even Paul's!)
Shall we just say that we trust our members an awful lot more than we trust random passers-by? David

You can even report your own posts if you make a silly mistake like a spelling error in a title.
Spell checkers rarely work on thread titles so you need to make an edit request to a moderator to fix it. |

You have found a forum where you have to sent a PM to a moderator to get it fixed.
I use another non electronic forum where you can edit most things for ever. On another forum new users are allowed to post without verification. The report button gets a bit more use as does the moderators digital eraser. |

As this thread has been reported by no less than Paul Stenning as having reached the end of its useful life I'll close it!
