Radio Servicing 1935
Caution! This film contains some scenes of a distressing nature.

Re: Radio Servicing 1935
Vandalism! The kids could have got hurt too. Judging from the sets, and possible sighting of a wartime headlamp cover, this film was made in 1939 or later.

Re: Radio Servicing 1935
Let's face it, we've all been there when you've arrived back from a heavy session at the pub and decided to re-align the IF strip of that round ekco in the hope of picking up Friday Night is Music Night

Re: Radio Servicing 1935
Yes, note the “U can beat the U-boat” poster so presumably it must be war time. Dodgy looking characters to be driving cars at that time though.

Re: Radio Servicing 1935
Yes, thanks for sharing this, must be 1939 or later from the Little Maestro at one point, the Pye radio at the beginning appears to have no knobs!

Re: Radio Servicing 1935
I liked the parts where the service engineer was working on sets with that huge, high wattage soldering iron. You can imagine him clumsily touching wiring and components as he delves in to pull out the offending 'bad tooth'. In fact, isn't that just what you see when you open some sets; evidence of a huge soldering iron being waved about like a star wars light sabre. No-one in the film seemed to stand on ceremony when it comes to looking after the cabinets either, chuck em down on the gritty pavement, into the back of the car etc.

Unfortunately, can't watch it from outside the UK.
Even using a VPN these days is getting harder as more sites are now blocking known VPN IP's. |

Re: Radio Servicing 1935
Now we know why there are so many valves around which have had their numbers rubbed off lol. I remember I used to have a green jumper in the pattern of the one the little lad is wearing (some years later I might add).

Re: Radio Servicing 1935
Thanks for posting that, great to watch.
You can view scenes just like that today - minus the children - in Gripton's Radio Stores at the Black Country Living Museum!

Re: radio servicing long ago
Just a bit of artistic licence going on there! That energised speaker came apart suspiciously easily.....
Polishing the markings off the valves would be popular, too.
