Half a Super-het
after a couple of days tinkering I`v finished half of my Super-het radio, enough to start experimenting with the front end mixer stuff for it, there`s stil quite a few questions I have left regarding it, but Thanks to some of my questions being answered by You guys I`v worked out and designed the I.F bits, demodulator and the AF stage, and stuck what I`v learned on a board.
a perfectly working circuit as well I might add! the board itself is something Setsappeal may recognise, as it`s part of the packing peices that came with a Matress that he used to cover the dial glass on my Ekco with, and the wooden rails are sawn off peices of Firework rockets I found in the garden. I`m using a little EL84 for the AF driver and it seems plenty loud enough that even I can hear it that is being fed with demodulator EBC90, which in turn is fed with an EF91, the cans are of course out of an old broken Cossor set that I salvaged. it doesn`t have a volume control of AGC yet as I wanted it rigged as Fully working so I could test at each build stage without any dangly bits getting the way. here`s a few pics: |
