Following correspondence with Malcolm, I attach my two pdf of the article refererred to in post #2.
Credit to Symon, Philips210 for providing the information in the first place for my initial request. This is the PW one I built back in the early 70s, as a stereo version with the dimming circuit added. The bass/mid/treble filter controls work extremely well and enable the sound heard to relate to the light displayed. NOTE. Part 4, last paragraph refers to a couple of minor errors within Fig. 9 in the first pdf. Be interested if anyone actually builds this? Mine, being stereo and including the dimmer facility as well, all built on veroboard is quite a beast! Rob

Pictures attached... Please can I throw into the mix the sound to light unit from the 1974 Practical Wireless. I built this one in the days of doing social club discos and playing George McCrae, Rock Your Baby and Higher Ground, Stevie Wonder and trying to impress the girls with the slick DJ stylee and failing quite miserably! From memory it used a “backwards” connected LT transformer to trigger the TRIAC. The other is the ETI disco project from 1976 (sorry for the upside down scans). The company I was working for at the time in Southend in the mid/latter part of the 70’s made the cabinet for Maplin. We cribbed the amplifier module/circuit and we modified it to drive 2SD424’s in Quasi-Complimentary instead of the 2N3055/MJ2955 as they kept blowing. ….Good days   Terry Last edited by Valvepower; 7th Aug 2021 at 9:34 pm. I built the early practical wireless sound to light in the mid 70,s it worked quite well !
This a described used a small valve type output transformer from RS Trev |

So quite a simple circuit really for each channel to switch the live to the lamp multiplied several times per lamp.
