I hate the television line output transformer being referred to as " the flyback ".

Sweep tube: Vacuum cleaner hose?

Smoothers: sandpaper capacitors? Especially annoying when people are referring to a reservoir capacitor.

Traffo: OK, that's German for the component, but in English use is a lazy contraction.

Tranny: I'm not going there!

Sodder: ^or there^

Each to their own I say, but can anyone defend:

MATH!

Even my American (NJ), mathematics professor at college would not accept MATH. Although it was fun to get him to try to say 'nuclear', he could only manage 'nuke-u-lar': great teacher though, always made lessons interesting.

Isn't the "smoother" the 2nd one in line after the reservoir and choke or resistor?
