Hi,
The Tape Out on the Bush SRP51 player is available at Pin 4 of the 'TAPE' DIN socket, pin 2 being common ground - the output is also dependent on the volume control setting as it is tapped (via a potential divider network) from the speaker.

An alternative output, which is not dependant on the volume control setting, should be available on Pin 5 (and maybe Pin 3) of the 'AMP' socket, once again with pin 2 being common ground, although the input circuitry of the tape recorder may load the signal from the cartridge too much resulting in loss of bass response.

If you are unsure of the DIN socket numbering it goes clockwise in the sequence 1,4,2,5,3 when the locating spigot is pointing towards you.

Use the socket on your EL3542 tape recorder marked 'Phono Radio' as the input route, this socket uses a standard RCA/Phono jack plug, a suitable lead can be either made up of purchased from the likes of Maplins and is shown here; using this lead you would only connect the RED lead to the input of your tape recorder. These leads are often also available from eBay suppliers or from Amazon.

One thing to note with the Bush SRP51 players is that the switch on the 'STEREO' socket can often get clogged up with dirt and become open circuit which will then result in the player only producing the right hand stereo channel

Regards
Andrew

Which seems daft until you think of a 5-pin DIN as a 3-pin with two added pins
