Default NAD 6325 Cass. Deck Problem

I have a NAD 6325 deck which in most respects is excellent, but....it seems very sensitive to the brand of cassette you offer it. Some play without problem but others needs bits of Sellotape sticking on the back. There seems to be some sensor which sometimes just does not detect that a cassette is present and then the play/rewind controls do not work.

Other than keep messing with bits of tape, can anyone offer a more methodical approach. Thanks.

I think you need to look and see if there are any micro switches that are not operating correctly with the cassette in place. From your description it sounds something like that.
Maybe just needs a slight bending of an arm or lever to ensure reliable contact with the cassette.

Some of these cassette cassette decks use leaf switches to detect tape presence, tape type, record tabs, etc.

These can oxidize and need cleaning with switch cleaner.
