Pineapple converter.
I bought my Pineapple converter in 1993 and it has been brought out of storage and pressed into service for the Bush TV22 which was a recent topic in the vintage TV and video part of the Forum.
This field store converter still works very well. How many Pineapple converters are still use today? Mine is built into an Eddystone box and a Maplin switch mode power supply installed along with the converter's PCB. DFWB. |

Re: Pineapple converter.
I have an original sales leaflet for the Pineapple, probably rarer than the converter....

Re: Pineapple converter.
I accommodated my Pineapple together with a power supply in a case of an old modem.

Re: Pineapple converter.
And a very nice job you made of it too if I may say so.

Re: Pineapple converter.
Hi Jac,
Your Pineapple converter has a very professional look. I like the idea of the interpolation mode switch on the front panel. DFWB. |

Re: Pineapple converter.
Hi David,
Thanks. With hindsight I could have omitted the interpolation switch, because it turned out that I only use one position: dip-switch 2 down and 3 + 4 up (=position 4 on the front switch). This gave the best visual result on a moving scene. Thanks Dave! The main reason to add some text to the controls and connectors is that I otherwise soon forget what their function is... Attached some scans of my notes I made at the time, and a picture of part of the inside. Jac |

I still have a Pineapple converter though I have not used it since upgrading to an Aurora.

Re: Pineapple converter.
David,
Is your masterpiece, your original standards converter, still in use anywhere? The Eddystone boxes were/are quite expensive but very good at keeping RF radiation inside (or outside) and a joy to work with. Jac |

Re: Pineapple converter.
Hi Jac,
The Pineapple converter along with the Darius (OldEurope) modulator was taken out of retirement to supply 405 signals to a Bush TV22 which is on display at a local museum. It's part of a of nineteen-fifties setting. DVDs supply the period video material. I've got to say the old converter does give a good account of itself although it goes with saying the Aurora is better and has the advantage of the test pattern C. In due course the Pineapple will be returned to me when a new Aurora is bought. DFWB. |
