Help Identifying Thorn LOPT and EHT rectifier
Hi.
A colleague has a Thorn LOPT and a Thorn EHT rectifier unit each from a different chassis but is unable to identify them. The EHT unit only has two leads so I'm thinking a simple half-wave rectifier as in a small screen set. I wondered if it was from a Thorn 900 (later version). I looked at the possibility of a 981 chassis but I think that EHT unit is physically different. He suggested the LOPT could be from a 1600 or later series. Attached are a couple of photos. Any help on identifying these two parts would be a great help. Regards Symon |

LOPT looks a bit like the 1591 portable to me. EHT doesn't ring any bells I'm afraid.

Re: Help Identifying Thorn LOPT and EHT rectifier
Hello,
Are there no markings at all on these two units? The LOPT is a Plessey made type and usually has a label on it with the Plessey part number (such as PLY 65/003). It does look like the type fitted in the Thorn 1590/1591 chassis. The rather small EHT rectifier could be for the Thorn 8000 colour TV chassis (the plug on it is the same type as the one on the Thorn 8500 EHT rectifier module) and it may have (depending on the actual maker of the unit) the following part numbers on them: TS20-11HAA, 9OM4-024 or E22A. Re: Help Identifying Thorn LOPT and EHT rectifier
Hi.
There is an ID number on the LOPT, this being PLY 69/000. It certainly looks similar to a 1590/1 type but the one in the pic is obviously missing it's stick rectifier. I suppose new 1590 LOPTs were supplied without this and would thus have to be transferred over from the old LOPT. Thanks so far for your replies. Regards Symon. |
