Default BEME BL55A Mini Loop problem

I have a BL55A which appears dead apart from the illumination from the neon. After a short while the resistor in line with the +90V from the battery overheats and smokes. Current drain from the 90V battery is 75mA whether the 1.5V heater battery is connected or not. Clearly this appears to be a capacitor problem but due to the compactness of the six valve chassis this is awkward to locate. Has anyone else encountered this fault on these sets?
