I'm really struggling with it tonight, even on my 'proper' setup. It's actually hard to tell if it's on or not - has it gawn off again?

Wow, it's barely audible at all underneath the other two stations co-channel! Must be a bad night for this direction. It was super at 7:30 this morning.

I was more interested about whether local sunrise or sunset time are generally when influence of the atmospheric shift occurs.

Found this in the back of a cupboard. Russian Selga 402. Never had the back off it. Luckily the battery in it hasn't leaked so after a quick scrub up of the terminals and a new battery it works fine.

Just got to sit here with my Caroline bait waiting for air waves now

I had a very similar one in the late 60's. There was a shop down the road that flogged everything from mops to bikes and I bought myself the SELGA from there. I loved this radio as it dragged in the pirates like Billy-O. It was full of those Russian black-canned germanium transistors. Picture shows mine as far as I remember it. Probably similar innards to yours. Sorry, going OT again..

I can see the next scheduled transmission from Caroline is for 16/12/17 but I was pleasantly surprised when I turn on the Selga tranny an hour ago and am getting a beautiful signal from Caroline testing on 648kHz (Manx link). They are asking for reception reports.

Strangely I am getting nothing at all on the DAC90A.

I can tell that they're there [20:08GMT] right now on my Eddystone 840A and sixty-mumble-foot longwire, and my little bedside Sony clock-radio is detecting them on 648KHz too.

Both radios are hampered by 'fluttery' interference [5 hertz beat] from the 10Kw Spanish station down in Extremadura which makes Caroline's signal really rather impossible to listen to for any entertainment value.

Will listen again later, as the ionosphere clears.

I'll think about sending in another report when they acknowledge my first!

The reports page just hangs when I try to use it

Ps Can anyone confirm where this 648kHz tx is? I get conflicting reports of it coming from IoM and Suffolk.

It’s in Suffolk, the 1368 is the IOM.

Try this page for reports.

Thanks Frank. I'm sure I've asked before. I'll put a sticky label on the wall with details on Signal has come up now and can just receive Caroline on the DAC90A but the Selga seems to have super ears.

To confuse things further they’re relaying Manx on 648 for testing.

My Eddystone 840A is currently getting what sounds like a generic local-radio broadcast on 1368KHz.

The 648kHz frequency is currently carrying continuous music without announcements.

Rolling Stones "You can't always get what you want" at present.

Nothing to indicate it's Manx Radio.

EDIT. Spoke to soon. They just gave an ID and asked for reception reports.

Slogan seems to be "Medium Wave. Old technology same ideology".

Yes, they were transmitting Manx at the weekend but now.

Much better again last night. Good listening even on a portable. This morning I tried reception on our car radio. I thought it was reasonably sensitive, but it heard nothing. I suspect the weak signal muting feature was suppressing it.
