1920's radio and the meccano magazine
Hi,
I came across this website quite a while ago, and although not strictly related to this forum, it will no doubt have some appeal to some members on here who have varied interest in other older technology. http://www.meccanoindex.co.uk/Magind...?id=1293833736 Some of the featured articles (every thing from making ball bearings to the latest steam trains!) especially from the 1920's to the 1960's will appeal to quite a few members on here, some of the adverts are interesting in their own rights. Unfortunately any of the editions earlier than about 1922 don't have any featured articles in. You will just have to download a given magazine and take your chance to see what is featured in it. I have taken the liberty to place an extract from the September 1922 magazine concerning the section on radio (this seems to be the starting point for radio editorials). I found this quite interesting if I ever have a few hours to spare, I hope this may interest a few members on here, as there is almost certainly something to interest almost everybody on here enjoy, Baz

I'll have to dig out my old Meccano set and have a go at building one.

In that Sept. 1922 pdf file, there is a photo of a superb steel-lattice radio mast. I wonder if it was built with Meccano?

Re: 1920's radio and the meccano magazine
Hi, I forgot to say access to all the Pdf's of the magazine for download, are in the column at the left hand side,
It is a bit slow to download, and you have to download the entire magazine, but there is quite a bit of historical information contained in the articles, as these were then 'current news'. I had already indicated the starting point for the radio editorials, and in that particular extract I posted above, this was followed on in the next issue (it often tells you what is in the next issue), so this would save you from downloading every single magazine. I myself just downloaded a couple of mags from different decades/years, around the historical timeframe of interest, and went from there. Cheers, Baz
