Dynatron ID and value?
I received an old record player from an elderly neighbour a while back. It's a Dynatron in a wooden case. The player is in mint condition with spare stylus and many records. I was going to ebay it but I'm not sure which model it is or its value. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Help needed
Very Nice a keeper in my opinion.
No idea of value though RP's not my interest. Cheers Mike T

Re: Help needed
I think this is one of several versions of the Dynatron Cavalcade. Very much of the teak era and probably made in the late sixties. A nice enough retro item for anyone furnishing in that style. Not much to go on in terms of value. Depends on finding the right buyer.

Re: Help needed
The usual recommendation is to search the SOLD listings of this model in eBay. Not offer prices, that's fiction alas!
Someone here may have recent experience though. |

Re: Help needed
A very nice sounding valved record player from around 1963. Well worth keeping. I think (like the Hacker) it uses 2 x ECL86s and a 10" x 6" speaker. I cannot see the auto stacking spindle? These sometimes crop up on ebay, but are under-valued by both Sellers and Buyers 'cos it's not a blinkin' Dansette....

Re: Dynatron ID and value?
Are you sure that this is as early as 1963 Edward? The styling looks later and I think the deck is a Mkll AT6. I wonder if it's the teak version of the GR10S (model year 1966). I have a feeling that the teak version was designated GR12 and came along a year or two after the original GR10S. I might be competely wrong of course.
Very much up-market of the average Dansette and infinitely preferable in my view. Alan Last edited by ajgriff; 21st Aug 2018 at 6:26 pm. |

Re: Dynatron ID and value?
I tended to date it by the Garrad deck used in this. In terms of value, if it was fully working (and it can't without the spindle) and really is "mint", I would put it at £90-110.00.
Given that a "fully restored" Dansette costs c. £300.00, I know where I would put my money.....

Re: Dynatron ID and value?
Just a couple of further thoughts and then I'll shut up, I promise. The cabinet doesn't look like it was designed to house and ventilate a valve amplifier. This is an additional indication that it might be a GR10S derivative which would have had a germanium transistor unit with AD161/162 output pair.
You may have guessed that I rather like this period piece. Alan |

Re: Dynatron ID and value?
The styling is very 1969 and for the adult rather than teenage market. If it's that late then there may well be a transistor amp inside.

Re: Dynatron ID and value?
An AD161/162 amp should give a good account of itself with about 7-10 watts available depending on how hard they're pushed.
