Garrard Replacement Needle
Hi, my friend has a Decca Capri record player, with a Garrard deck. He needs a replacement needle, but cannot find one anywhere, perhaps someone here will know what to look for?

Re: Garrard Replacement Needle
GP91 cartridge, so one of the following, depending if they play 78's or not. If not just get the one with 2 LP tips:

Re: Garrard Replacement Needle
Good advice.
Is your friend certain it's just the stylus ("needle") that needs replacing, and that the cartridge (the bit that's marked GP91) is still working? |

Yes, he doesn't need it as of now, he still plays his records, its just that he wanted to find a replacement before his current one wore out.

Re: Garrard Replacement Needle
Depending how much use the record player has, that stylus might last for a year - or far more....Also one does not wait for them to "wear out". They just need examining every 2/3 months or so.

Re: Garrard Replacement Needle
Diamond styluses do last well, but you should check that the existing stylus doesn't have a sapphire tip. These have a much shorter life. If in any doubt, change the stylus - a new diamond stylus will last for many years unless subjected to very heavy use.
