Question HF connector

Hi all,

Can anyone identify this connector, please? It looks a bit like a BNC with threaded collar or an oversized sat connector. The male thread has an outer diameter of 16.5 mm, could be imperial. The make could be starting with 'Teleg' the rest is unreadable. I really don't know what to put in the search engine. The photo is not very good. The connector comes from an aerial rod which was outdoors for at least 20 years, before we moved in. Any suggestions?

BR

Stef.

I believe the N type connector has different centre pin diameters depending upon whether they are for 50 or 75 Ohms impedance use - so take care to get the correct one if you want to avoid damaging it.

Your photo shows a pair of 50 Ohm 'Type-N' connectors. The male is on the left, female on the right.

The 75Ohm version has a smaller centre pin. Mating a 75 Ohm male into a 50 Ohm female does no damage but doesn't always make a connection. Mating a 50 Ohm male into a 75 Ohm female will destroy the female. So it's worth checking, though 75 Ohn ones are now relatively rare.

The cable fitting is the compression gland version, and they are re-usable and quite strong. They are also supposed to be watertight (look for rubber ring seal inside the screw ring from the connecting end of the male.

These are considered measurement grade up to 18GHz

One of the best ever connectors.
